Work on the site is happening as I post this. I am in the first stages of revamping the site (dont expect much of a visual overhaul) This is more of an effort to hone my skills and get the site layout where I want it.
Augmented Reality: A New Level of Social Networking

Augmented reality is a term that can be seen often when browsing the various tech blogs on the web, but what is it exactly? Well, to put it simply, Augment Reality is a field of computer research which deals with the combination of real-world and computer-generated data (virtual reality), where computer graphics objects are blended into real footage in real time. (Wikipedia) This is a field of study that is experience a massive growth because of the capabilities that exist in our current and near future technology. Recently a video was posted for the TAT Augmented ID application concept. The application uses facial recognition to pull in a particular user’s social media or even contact information all in real time. Just point your phone at a person and their Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace information can be seen floating around their head.
The Google Chrome OS: Why You Should Care
Yesterday Google announced the development of the Google Chrome OS on their official blog. This announcement finally puts the many swirling rumors to rest and also ushers in a new era of mobile computing. Google is quick to point out that the Chrome OS is separate from its other mobile operating system, Android, which is also being used on some netbooks and small low-power desktops. The Chrome OS is aimed directly at netbooks and desktop computer systems with an emphasis on web based applications.

Gaining Synergy in a PC/Mac World

Update: This is the first part of a multi-part series on living a dual-platform life
Today after switching my PC to a new desk and upgrading to a larger monitor I came upon an obstacle. I now had a spare 20″ LCD that I could use either as a second monitor (though not really needed) or I could use it as a larger monitor for my MacBook. I decided on the latter and was finally faced with this obstacle I spoke of before. My desk has enough space for the 32″ LCD and the 20″ LCD (in portrait mode), but not enough room for a separate keyboard and mouse. After doing some searching on the web I came upon Lifehacker’s article on controlling multiple computers with a single keyboard and mouse by using the software Synergy. After following Lifehacker’s steps and installing it on both my PC and my Mac I was ready to go.
Twitter Will Avoid Ads

It looks like the social networking service Twitter will be avoiding the usual pitfalls of many of its competitors. According to Computer World, Twitter is looking at ways to capitalize on the top 5 to 10% of its users by offering paid services. This is great news for both those in that 10% and those that are not. Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter would not go into details about what would be offered, but we can only speculate that it shall be tools to gather followers and possibly creative new posting applications.

The Future

This site has been created as a way for me to test out new ideas within the realm of Wordpress and in a manner that will not interfere with any of my client sites. As it stands the current theme is extremely basic, but I will be working hard to create something that is simple yet elegant. I will be looking at new ways of integrating other forms of social media into the website other than just the Twitter feed in the sidebar. The future will bring many exciting things. You should expect regular news updates, audio and video blogs, and new insight into what is going on here in New Orleans.
I also might be giving a presentation on creating your first Wordpress blog. This is something that I am really excited about and I would like to thank Joe for suggesting the idea. If you have any comments or suggestions please leave them here in the comments!
